New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) Buddhadeb Saha of Burdwan in West Bengal has won the first photo competition on ''Tribal Theme'' jointly organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Information and Broadcasting Ministry, an official release said here today.
The National level photographic competition 2007, for amateur photographers on the theme of 'joyful tribals', was a new venture by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to focus on national scenario.
The aim of this competition was to create awareness on the colourful lifestyle of the tribals and collect good quality photographs for the purpose of documentation and exhibitions.
The competition, whose last date of entry was September 30, 2007, received as many as 1,949 entries from 322 participants.
The jury comprised of experts from photo division of the Tribal Affairs Ministry and a non-official.
Shailesh Nigam from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh and Pranabendu Samajpati from Kolkata were awarded the second and third prize, respectively.
Ten entries have been selected for Commendation.
The jury did not find any entry suitable for the special talent award for the Best Tribal Photographer.
The first three winners will be invited to New Delhi during the ensuing Tribal Festival, likely to be held in December 2007 to receive the awards, an release said.
