The prisoners alleged that Jail Superintendent Jayakanthan was harassing those who deposed against him before the Justice Venugopal Commission in connection with the death of three prisoners in the Central Prison in 2005 after consuming liquor laced with poison, found in the jail premises.
Meanwhile, Chief Jail Superintendent Durga Prasad, in a release here, denied that the prisoners were being harassed. Certain restrictions were imposed following the seizure of mobile phones, smuggled into the prison along with eatables.
