New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) Delhi Industries Minister Mangat Ram Singhal today said 250 industrial units have been affected by the metro project in the capital and assuring succour to them announced that they will rehabilitated as soon as the land required for them is available.
''We are sensitive to the situation and relocate the industrial units as soon as we find land for the purpose,'' Mr Singhal told a news conference at the Delhi Day state function at India International Trade Fair 2007 here.
He said the scheme of conversion of industrial plots to freehold is in full swing and a total of 174 built-up industrial plots have already been converted into freehold.
''Original allottee/lessee is entitled to 40 per cent remission and conversion is allowed to the last power of attorney holder on a surcharge of 33 1/3 per cent over and above the normal conversion charges but no unearned increase is recoverable,'' Mr Singhal said.
Mr Singhal also pointed out that the scheme for conversion of flatted factories at Okhla Flatted Factories Complex from a rental to hire purchase basis has been implemented and a total of 110 flatted factories have so far been converted.
About the relocation of industries, the Industries Minister said 22,749 industries have already been given allotments of alternate industrial plots/flats in conforming industrial areas.
He said with emphasis on the promotion of high-tech, low energy intensive and non-polluting industries in the capital that can achieve optimum levels of production using less space and power, the Delhi government is setting up a knowledge park, expocity-cum-convention centre, fashion/apparel park and an ecological park in different parts of the city.
Mr Singhal said, keeping in view the residential needs of the relocated industrial labour, the government has also taken up housing schemes for industrial workers under the name of Rajiv Gandhi Housing Project at Bawana.
''A total of 3164 dwelling units have already been constructed on the land measuring 23.5 acres. Another 4000 dwelling units are proposed to be constructed at Bawana and Narela industrial areas and at Bhorgarh where new industrial area is being developed,'' he added.
