Agartala, Nov 15 (UNI) The Tripura unit of the CPI(M) has flayed a section of intellectuals and the media, besides the Opposition political parties in West Bengal, for reacting against the Nandigram issue.

The CPI(M) in the state today organised a rally in protest against the Opposition in West Bengal while criticising the intellectuals, including Mahashweta Devi, for their comments on the ruling party's move to ''bring back the refugees.'' ''The West Bengal government has assured that no land would be acquired for industrial purposes but unfortunately, the so-called Bhumi Ucchhed Pratirodh Committee, backed by the Opposition, created trouble in Nandigram, which is solely responsible for the grim situation,'' CPI(M) youth front leader Tapas Datta said.

Mr Datta also alleged that a section of the media and intellectuals had been trying to misguide the common people against the peace restoration process in Nandigram, which had complicated the situation.

However, following the effective management of the state government, the condition was improving gradually, he claimed.
