Militant among two killed, ultra surrenders in J

Srinagar, Nov 15 (UNI) Security forces killed a militant while the police recovered a body across Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.

He said troops of 28 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) killed a militant during a gun-battle at Shumriyal in Sogam area of Kupwara district during the intervening night of November 14-15.

One AK rifle, two magazines, 43 rounds, one wireless set and four hand grenades were seized from the possession of the slain ultra.

Police recovered the body of 27-year-old Nazir Ahmad Mir from Nunwani village in Anantnag district.

Proceedings under section 174 CrPC have been initiated in this regard, police added.

Security forces conducted searches at Ichagoza village in Pulwama district early today.

During the operation, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Mohammad Ayub Dar alias Badshah Khan, was arrested. Two kg of explosive material, 25 rounds and two detonators were seized from his possession.

The spokesman said security forces detected two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during a search operation at Rakh Momin in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district last evening.

The IEDs, hidden beneath a wood stack, were later defused by the security forces without causing any damage, he added.

The spokesman said a Hizb militant surrendered before the Army at Chaklas-Massiyal in Mahore area of Ramban district in Jammu region during the intervening night of November 14-15.

The ultra handed over one AK rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds, one wireless set and one grenade to the authorities, he added.
