Barrackpur, Nov 15 (UNI) The 17th battalion of the Maratha Light Infantry today observed its 46th raising day at the cantoment here with great enthusiasm.
The battalion, stationed here since 2005, had a glorious achievement in the past and was honoured with "Ruywa title" after the World War II.It was reraised at Belgaum on this day in 1962.
A three-day programme was undertaken by the battalion on this occasion. During the military pageant soldiers and their family members took part in an open air drama depicting the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
Col S K S Chauhan, commanding the battalion, with other army officers was present in the function.
