Lawyers abstain from court in protest against the murder of APP

Patna, Nov 15(UNI) Lawyers associated with the Bihar State Bar Council today abstained from the court in protest against the murder of Additional Public Prosecutor(APP) of Begusarai Ram Naresh Sharma.

Bar Council Chairman R P Singh and secretary of all the three unions of lawyers of Patna High Court Y C Verma claimed that more than 80,000 lawyers boycotted judicial work, following, which work remained paralysed in the high court and lower courts all over the state and Central Administrative Tribunal(CAT).

In an extraordinary meeting held yesterday in the district, Bar Association of Patna under the chairmanship of Ashok Kumar Sinha the lawyers had demanded Rs 25 lakhs as ex-gratia to the dependents and government job to the son of the slain APP, gunned down at Pokharia Mohalla under Town police station area in Begusarai district by unidentified criminals on November 8.

The lawyers also demanded adequate security cover to PPs and APPs who were conducting cases against hardcore criminals.
