Court issues arrest warrant against suspended Orissa DGP

Jaipur, Nov 15 (UNI) A lower court today issued a 'standing' arrest warrant against suspended Orissa DGP (Home Guards) B B Mohanty, who had furnished a bond of Rs 50,000 for the release of his son and rape convict Bitti Mohanty on parole, and ordered proceedings for the attachment of his property.

Additional District Judicial Magistrate II in Jaipur gave the ruling on a report by Inspector R N Satpathy of Cuttack contonment police station against the execution of the arrest warrant against the senior police official earlier.

Mr Satpathy in his report said the police could not trace the father-son duo even after conducting searches at their house.

The court further ordered proceedings against them under Section 82 and 83 of the IPC and the attachment of the property of B B Mohanty.

It asked the police to furnish the details of the property owned by senior police officials in Orissa and elsewhere during the next hearing of the case on January 10 next year.

Bitti Mohanty, convicted for a life-term for raping a German woman, was released on parole on November 20, 2006 on a surety of Rs 50,000 furnished by his father B B Mohanty. He did not return to the Jaipur Central jail even after the expiry of the parole on February, 2.
