Chargesheet filed against IFS officer in dowry case

Darbhanga, Nov 15 (UNI) Bihar police today filed a chargsheet against an Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officer in connection with a dowry case.

Deputy Police Superintendent Parvez Akhtar here said the chargesheet had been filed against ten people, including the IFS officer and his relatives.

He said the IFS officer, Amit Mishra, was engaged to one Rachna Jha of Bangali Tola under Laheriasarai police station in the district.

However, he refused to tie the nuptial knot when the family members of Rachna Jha failed to meet the demand of Rs one crore as dowry.

Rachna Jha had filed an FIR in this connection at Laheriasarai police station on December 23, 2006.
