Kolkata, Nov 15 (UNI) The Calcutta High Court Bar Association today called on all lawyers to boycott the Chief Justice's bench for delay in delivering verdict on a PIL on Nandigram.
The Association boycotted all benches of the Court to protest the delay in the judgement.
''We have appealed all the lawyers to boycott the court of Chief Justice to protest the manner in which the PIL on the Nandigram issue is being dealt with,''Association spokesperson Uttam Majumdar said.
He said the hearing on the PIL has been wrapped up weeks ago but the verdict had been reserved without any reason.
''We urge the lawyers to abstain from attending the court for an indefinite period,'' he added.
The Association had moved the case on Nandigram after 14 people were killed in March this year.
Chief Justice S S Nijjhar also began a suo moto case on the incident.
The bench had held a lengthy hearing on the PIL and issued an interim order directing the CBI to probe the matter.
The court is yet to deliver the final verdict.
