Mumbai, Nov 15 (UNI) Noted litterateur and critic B L Bhole has been chosen for the ''Maharashtra Foundation Gaurav Award''.
The award will be presented to Mr Bhole at a function to be held here on December 30. The awards function will be presided over by Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Hemant Gohale, while eminent film-maker Jabbar Patel will be the chief guest.
Mr Bhole would receive a purse of Rs two lakh and a memento, Maharashtra Foundation chairman Madhu Adelkar told a press conference here yestrday while announcing the list of awardees for Marathi literature and social work.
''The awardees have been finalised, after going through the work of people from their respective fields of expertise,'' Mr Adelkar said.
Apart from Mr Bhole, the list of awardees for Marathi literature includes Mahadev More for ''Kadambarikar'', Sandesh Bhandare for ''Tamasha -- Ek Rangdi Gamat'', Ganesh Devi, Sunil Kumar Lavte, Arun Kale, Ajay Kandar, Veer Dhawal Parab, Avinash Salapurikar, Sanjivni Kulkarni and Arun Mirajkar.
The list of awardees for social work include, Halo Medical Foundation, Osmanabad and Stree Mukti Sanghatana, Mumbai which will be given a cash prize of Rs 150,000 and a souvenir each.
There is also a special award for Dr N D Patil of Satara, who will be given a cash prize of Rs 100,000 and a souvenir.
The individual awardees for the Maharashtra Foundation Social Work Awards 2007 include Pradip Prabhu from Dahanu, Anwar Rajan from Pune and Rajan Indulkar from Chiplun who will be given a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each and a souvenir.
Social activist Mrinal Gore is a part of the selection committee and will be present during the prize distribution ceremony.
