Andaman police apprehends 15 Myanmarese poachers

Port Blair, Nov 15 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar Police today apprehended 15 Myanmarese poachers from the John Lawrence Island area near the tourist hotspot Havelock Islands.

Andaman Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Chand told UNI that acting on a tip off regarding sighting of the poachers around the Islands near Havelock a week ago, an anti-poaching team carried out massive search operations for a week and apprehended 15 Myanmarese poachers.

Two Myanmarese dinghies, along with fishing equipment and other items were seized from their possession, the SP added.

Meanwhile, the foreign nationals were brought to Port Blair for initiating legal action against them.
