71 per cent polling recorded in tribal constituencies

Shimla, Nov 15 (UNI) The three tribal Assembly constituencies of Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti and Bharmaur, where elections were held yesterday in the first phase in Himachal Pradesh, recorded about 71 per cent polling.

State's Chief Electoral Officer Manisha Nanda said Lahaul Spiti constituency recorded the highest polling percentage of 73 followed by 71 per cent in Kinnuar and 69 per cent in Bharmaur constituency in election yesterday.

Pangi in Bharmaur recorded 76.36 per cent polling as against 67 per cent in Bharmaur area, while Lahaul Valley recorded 71.12 per cent and Spiti Valley 77.37 per cent, she said.

The election officials on the basis of preliminary data had stated yesterday that 65 per cent polling had been reported in the tribal areas, but added the exact percentage of polling would only be known after the officials returned from the far flung polling booths today.
