Somnath Chatterjee convenes all-party meet
New Delhi, Nov 14: Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has convened an all-party meeting of leaders here today to ensure smooth functioning of the Winter Session of Parliament, which is beginning on Thursday.
The new session is likely to have discussion on several issues, including Nandigram and the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal. Besides these issues, Narendra Modi"s role in the post-Godhra riots in view of the forthcoming Gujarat Assembly polls are likely to turn Parliament"s session into a stormy affair.
Leader of Opposition L K Advani on Nov 13 said that he has sought a discussion on Nandigram in the Parliament.
"We
believe
while
a
discussion
on
the
nuclear
deal
is
important,
but
no
less
important
is
a
discussion
on
Nandigram
and
the
plight
of
the
farmers
there," he
said.
The
session
will
continue
till
December
7.
