Mumbai, Nov 14 (UNI) Karan Razdan, director of the film ''Mittal versus Mittal', which deals with marital rape and stars National award winner Rituparna Sengupta and Rohit Roy, said Rituparna is a director's actor and has the ability to get into the character.
In an exclusive chat from Cape Town where he is shooting for his next film, Karan Razdan, admits that it was not easy to get her to do a differential shot post the traumatic ones. ''Rituparna is a director's actor. And the scenes were hair-raising. She used to keep experiencing the feel of the scene much post the shoot. And as a director, I took her dedication and ability to get into the character, to my advantage.'' Certain shoots had the protagonist, Rituparna, breaking out in cold sweat and shaken up for days. But there were other schedules where Karan had to shoot other sequences with Ritu too. ''And I felt that it would be too much for me to demand her to look happy one instant and terrified and traumatised when I change lighting and location,'' said Karan Razdan.
Hence, Karan came out with novel concepts to work out the sequences of trauma. ''Karan was quite aesthetic as marital rape is a very sensitive subject,'' added producer Dinesh Chugh.''Hence came in the cobwebs, and differnet props that signify the trauma and pain of the woman in question,'' he said.
As Rohit Roy puts it,''Here, we would look totally in character in a scene, and the next, he would come out with this smart aesthetic shot in which both of us would feel that element of relief creep in, making the next difficult scene easier.'' ''We really admire the way Karan has commercially shot a realistic film without losing out on the values,'' adds Rituparna.
The film which is directed by Karan Razdan and produced by Dinesh Chugh is slated for a Jan-Feb 2008 release. The playback singers are Kailash Kher and Sunidhi Chauhan.
