Jalandhar, Nov 14 (UNI) Ram Sethu Rakshya Manch has decided to undertake 20-day 'Ram Shilaa' yatra in all the 700 districts of the country against the proposed Sethusamundran project of the Centre.

Talking to media persons here today, Vishwa Hindu Parishad national secretary Khem Chand said the 'Ram Shilaa' yatra in each district of the country would start from November 20 to December 10, carrying a floating 'Ram Shilaa' in a specially designed vehicle for the awareness of masses.

Mr Chand said in the first 15 days, the yatra would cover major temples and streets in the cities and towns and in the last five days, it would be covering nearly 50 to 60 villages in each district.

He said if implemented, the Sethusamundran Canal Project would not only destroy the international boundary of the country but huge deposits of thorium would also be exploited.

''Ram Sethu is a protection wall and if broken, tsunamis would occur more frequently in the region, which would not only disturb the ecological balance of the area but would also destroy Rameshwaram, the southern most point of the country'', Mr Chand said.

The manch has decided to stage a protest in Delhi on December 30, if the Central Government moves ahead with the proposed project, he informed.
