Prez, PM pays homage to Nehru on his Birthday

New Delhi, Nov 14: President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi today paid homage to the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 118th birth anniversary. A large number of school children also visited his memorial, Shanti Van. Later, dignitaries including Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, the Prime Minister, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani, Union Ministers Pranab Mukherjee, P R Dasmunshi, H R Bharadwaj and others paid floral tributes to Panditji's potrait in the Central Hall of Parliament.

A number of functions will be held during the day in schools and several cultural insitutions to celebrate the day as 'Children's Day'.
