Police remand of sex racket accused extended

Moga, Nov 14 (UNI) Two women, arrested for their alleged involvement in the infamous sex-racket-cum-extortion case, were remanded in police custody till November 17 by a local court today.

Manjit Kaur and Manpreet Kaur were produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Manjinder Singh after the expiry of their two-day police remand today. The judge remanded them in police custody for another four days.

Police brought to the notice of the court that one of the accused Manpreet Kaur had revealed that she was raped on November four at Karnal in Haryana where both of them were kpet at a farm house.

Police also wanted to nab one Rockey Sharma, a lottery dealer of Moga, who allegedly raped Manpreet Kaur.

The court directed the police to take the Manpreet to Karnal for the registration of a rape case as the offence was commited there.

Meanwhile, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has also taken cognisance of the case and directed the investigation officer Bhupinder Singh DSP to file a status report on the case on November 20. Both DIG Ferozepur Range and SSP Moga were also issued notices.
