New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court today declined permission to use loudspeakers at Juhu beach in Mumbai during Chhath Puja celebrations on November 16.
A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, justices R V Raveendran and J M Panchal refused to grant permission when the petition filed by Bihari front was mentioned today before the court for urgent hearing.
The front has come in appeal against Bombay High Court order refusing to grant permission for the use of loudspeakers at Juhu beach.
According to the petitioner, use of loudspeakers was normally permitted up to 10 pm and therefore there should be no problem if loudspeakers are used during Chhath Puja celebrations.
The court, however, did not agree.
