Ministry of coal allocates Mohuagarhi Coal Block to CESC Ltd

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) CESC Ltd today said the Ministry of Coal has made joint allocation of Mohuagarhi Coal Block in Jharkhand to the company for its proposed pithead power station.

The company's share in the total reserve works out to 110 million tonnes.

CESC has signed an Mou with Jharkhand Government to utilise the coal stock for its proposed 1,000 MW thermal power station in Dumka District, a statement said.

The power plant is expected to be operational by 2012 and the power generated will mainly be sold in merchant market, it added.

CESC Limited claims to be the pioneer in the history of generation of electricity in India having commenced power generation and distribution in Kolkata, in 1899.
