Kochi, Nov 14: The Kerala government today informed the High Court that it has suggested three alternative sites to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its proposed Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IISST) in Thiruvananthapuram.
In an affidavit filed in the court, the state government submitted that the alternative sites were in Thiruvananthapuram district.
Meanwhile, all petitions related to the controversial Merchiston Estate, Thiruvananthapuram, where ISRO had bought land from a private party to set up the IISST, will come up for hearing tomorrow before a division bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice K T Sankaran.
The affidavit filed by Mr S Raju, Deputy Secretary, Forest and Wildlife Department, Kerala, stated that Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was a tenent of Xavi Mano Mathew, the controversial ''owner'' of Merchiston Estate, and added this however, would not affect an ongoing vigilance inquiry into the Merchiston Estate deal.
The affidavit said the official houses of ministers were fixed by the general administration department and the home ministry and the vigilance department had no role in it.
