Foundation stone laid for medical college in MP

Bhopal, Nov 14: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today laid the foundation stone of the state's sixth government medical college to be set up in Sagar at a cost of Rs 145 crore.

It is after a gap of about four decades that a government college is being established in Madhya Pradesh. Teaching would begin from the next academic session. Former union minister Murli Manohar Joshi was chief guest, an official release said.

Addressing a public meeting, Mr Chouhan said, ''memoranda of understanding were signed at the recent Global Investors Summit at Indore for establishment of new industry in Bundelkhand region.'' The Rio Tinto group would invest Rs 2,180 crore for iron ore-based industry in Panna and Rs 100 crore would be pumped into diamond-mining and tourism development at Khajuraho, the release added.
