Midnapore, Nov 13 (UNI) Sukur Ali and Tapan Ghosh, wanted by the CBI in Chhoto Angaria case for a long time but declared "absconder" by police, were today produced before Additional District Sessions judge Abdul Kuddus in Midnapur District and Session Judges court.

They were arrested by Egra police two days back.

As soon as they were produced in the Midnapur court, CBI lawyer Tapas Basu wanted them under CBI remand.

The judge ordered that they be produced again before him on November 21 and then the case of the CBI would be heard.

They were sent to the Midnapur Central Jail.

While bringing them from Contai sub-jail to Midnapur this morning, the Trinamool Congress workers demonstrated in front of the jail, not allowing them to be taken under police supervision, and instead wanted them to be taken under CBI supervision.

Police somehow managed to bring them here.

DSP CBI Partha Sarathi Basu said these two persons were wanted by the CBI for a long time after the Chhoto Angaria incident in which 11 Trinamool Congress supporters were burnt alive in a house of Bakhtar Mandal and their dead bodies were hushed up on January four, 2001. Five more people, also wanted in this case, were still absconding, IC CBI Dilip Chakraborty said.
