Socialist leader Lakshmi Sahu passes away

Patna, Nov 13 (UNI) Noted socialist leader of Bihar Lakshmi Sahu died after prolonged illnes at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi last night.

Sahu was 69 and is survived by two sons and a daughter. He was suffering from kidney ailments and undergoing treatment at the AIIMS, where he breathed his last.

The mortal remains of Lakshmi Sahu was being brought here and would be consigned to flames on the bank of river Ganga tomorrow.

Sahu was a private secretary to former Bihar Chief minister Karpoori Thakur and before joining politics, he was an employee in the postal department. He remained associated with the JD(U) and Samata Parties.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sahu. In his condolence message, Mr Kumar said the leader had strived for the cause of oppressed sections of the society and was a committed leader.
