Port Blair, Nov 13 (UNI) The five-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign (PIC) at Rangat, scheduled to be held from November 19, has been postponed by the Press Information Bureau of the Islands.

The five-day campaign will not take place from December six. As announced earlier, the Lt. Governor, Lt. General (Retd.) Bhopinder Singh will inaugurate the much awaited event at Rangat Stadium, Senior Media and Communication Officer of PIB, Mr. O. N Jaiswal told UNI today.

The officer said that the PIC has been put off following the inclement weather in the Islands.

The campaign offered opportunity to the central and state government departments, PSUs, banks and insurance companies, NGOs,and SHGs to showcase their products and services through an impressive exhibition, he added.

Mr Jaiswal said this outreach strategy combines information dissemination with demonstration of the delivery of services/benefits at the door-steps of the beneficiaries, media sensitization about development issues and motivation and participation of people in the development process.

The first Bharat Nirman PIC was held here at Wimberlygunj last year, which drew overwhelming response in which about 50 departments and organizations had open their stalls and thousands of people from far and near participated in the programmes during the 5-day event, the official stated.
