Dehradun, Nov 13 (UNI) The Uttarakhand government, led by Maj Gen (Retd) Bhuvan Chadra Khanduri, has increased the one-time amount of defence bravery awards provided to the recipents and their dependents.
Secretary, Soldiers Welfare, Radha Raturi, in an official release, said the amount given to the Paramveer Chakra recipent and his dependents has been increased from existing Rs 1,72,500 to Rs 25 lakh and annual amount has been increased to Rs.1.5 lakh from the existing Rs 1000.
For the Ashoka Chakra awardee, the exsting amount of Rs 1.45 lakhs has been increased to Rs 25 lakhs and their annual amount has been increased to Rs 1.20 lakhs from the existing Rs 800.
Similarly, the Mahaveer Chakra holders would now recieve Rs 15 lakhs in comparison to the existing Rs 1.15 lakh and their annual amount has been increased to Rs 1.14 lakhs from the existing Rs 400.
For Kirtri Chakra holders, the one-time amount has been increased to Rs 15 lakhs from Rs 87,000 and their annual amount increased to Rs 1 lakh from Rs 350.
The Veer Chakra awardee would now recieve Rs 10 lakh instead of Rs 57,000 and the annual amount has been increased to Rs 66,000 from Rs 300. The amount for Shaurya Chakra recipent has been enhanced to Rs 10 lakhs from the exisitng Rs 45,000 and the annual amount has been increased to Rs 50,000 from Rs 250.
Ms Raturi said the one-time amount for Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal awardee had not been changed, however, the annual amount had been increased to Rs 4000 from the existing Rs 600.
Meanwhile, for Uttam Yudh Sewa Medal recipients, the amount has been increased to Rs 1.27 from the existing Rs 75,000 and their annual amount increased to Rs 4200 from Rs 350, she said, adding with this Uttarakhand had become the state providing highest ex gratia to its recipient of the bravery awards in the country.
