Gurgaon to have Inter-state Bus Terminus

Chandigarh, Nov 13 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to construct an Interstate Bus Terminus near Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway at Gurgaon with a view to easing the traffic congestion.

Besides, three bus stands would be constructed at Faridabad, Gurgaon and Karnal on BOT basis to provide better transport facilities to the commuters.

These decisions were taken at a meeting of the Transport Department which was presided over by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today.

The Chief Minister directed the Transport Authorities to construct the bus stands on the above sites in a time bound manner.

He also directed the HUDA authorities to allot a piece of two acres of land to the Transport Department for the construction of a multi-storey bus stand near the proposed Metro Station.

Mr Hooda also directed the officers of Town and Country Planning Department that they should identify 20 acres of land of appropriate location near Pachgaon for constructing an interstate bus terminus workshop and allied facilities.

The approval was accorded in the meeting for construction of bus stand in Gurgaon for which five acres of land of Agriculture Department would be transferred to Transport Department near Rajiv Chowk.

It was also decided in the meeting that a new modern bus stand on BOT basis in the place of old bus stand Gurgaon would also be constructed on 10 acres of land.

He also directed the Transport Department to acquire about 30 acres of land near national highway No 8 on the outer periphery of SEZ for future development of a transport zone including bus terminus.

He directed that the workshop of Gurgaon depot be shifted to the proposed transport zone.

The Chief Minister said the Transport Department was also had mooted a proposal to construct government offices in the premises of bus stands especially in the rural areas so that facilities could be made available to the people at one place.

He directed the Transport Authorities to chalk out a plan under which the number of display of advertisements on roadways buses be inccreased for earning more revenue.
