New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) Feroz Abbas Khan's 'Gandhi My Father' has bagged the Best Screenplay award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
After winning accolades and critical acclaim galore at home and abroad, the Akshay Khanna, Bhumika Chawla, Shefali Shah-starrer,which takes a look on the troubled relationship between the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and his elder son Harilal Gandhi, was announced the winner of the Best Screenplay at a special ceremony on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia last night.
Director of the film Feroz Abbas Khan was present to at the award ceremony, which was attended by over 500 film industry luminaries from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the United States, to accept the award.
Films from India, Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Iran, Turkey and Israel received Asia Pacific Screen Awards at the ceremony, to be telecast on CNN International on November 17 at 1230 hrs.
The Awards were determined by an International Jury headed by esteemed Indian actress and social activist Shabana Azmi.
The Best Feature Film award was won by 'Secret Sunshine' ('MirYang') from Korea, while Jeon Do-yeon received the Best Performance by an Actress Award for her performance in the same film.
Best Achievement in Directing was awarded to Iranian directors Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and Mohsen Abdolvahab for the film 'Mainline' ('Khoonbazi'), while the Best Children's Feature Film award went to 'Denias, Singing On The Cloud' ('Denias, Senandung Di Atas Awan') from Indonesia.
Best Animated Feature Film was won by '5 Centimeters Per Second' ('Byosoku 5 Centimeters') from Japan.
Best Documentary Feature Film was 'Beirut Diaries: Truth, Lies and Videos' from Lebanon. The Best Achievement in Cinematography was awarded to Hooman Behmanesh for the Iranian film 'Those Three' ('An She").
Turkish actor Erkan Can won the Best Performance by an Actor Award for his performance in 'TAKVA: A Man's Fear Of God' ('TAKVA').
