Fisherman injured in firing by Lankan Navy
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Nov 13 (UNI) An Indian fisherman was injured when the Sri Lankan Navy fired at fishermen who strayed into the territorial waters of the island nation, last evening.
Official sources here said 360 fishermen had ventured into the sea for fishing yesterday. When some of them strayed beyond the maritime border, the Sri Lankan Navy fired in the air and chased away the boats.
The Navy personnel then also fired at the fishermen, injuring one Kirubairaj (24) in the thigh. Immediately, all the boats returned to the shore and Kirubairaj was admitted to the Ramananathapuram Government Hospital.
