Hyderabad, Nov 13 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government today alerted the Collectors of the coastal districts as this morning's very severe cyclonic storm ''SIDR'' over Southeast Bay of Bengal moved northwards and lay centred at 1430 hrs today over Southeast Bay, about 380 km west-northwest of Port Blair.
''As part of the drill, we have put on alert collectors of the coastal districts, particularly the north coastal districts, as the Indian Meteorology Department predicted isolated to scattered rains or thundershowers over coastal Andhra Pradesh from November 15,'' Disaster Management Department officials here said.
''With the IMD officials predicting squally winds with increased rainfall activity over Orissa during the period, we have asked the Collectors of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam to be on alert,'' they added.
Dry weather prevailed over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema in the last 24 hours, IMD officials here said.
The minimum temperatures fell over Coastal Andhra and at many places over Rayalaseema and changed little over Telangana. They were significantly below normal at a few places over Rayalaseema and at one or two places over Coastal Andhra and below normal over Telangana. The lowest minimum temperature of 11 deg Celsius was recorded at Arogyavaram.
Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Mainly dry weather is likely to prevail over Telangana and Rayalaseema.
