Businessman waylaid by dacoits, Rs 37 lakhs looted
Mysore, Nov 13 (UNI) A gang of dacoits waylaid three businessman at knife-point and looted Rs 37 lakhs in cash after assaulting the victims, near Kollur Gate in Chanpatna town on the Mysore-Bangalore state highway last night.
According to police the dacoits struck businessman Shoukat, who was returning to Bangalore with cash after selling his agricultural land in his native village H D Kote taluk in the district along with another two of his friends.
The victims were waylaid by a gang of eight members, who followed the car in which they were travelling in a jeep and snatched cash bag and also a cheque of Rs seven lakh value after assaulting the trio and the driver of the vehicle.
The assailants also took away the vehicle from the victims and abandoned it later. A case was registered and a special investigation team was formed to nab the culprits, police said.
