Chennai, Nov 12 (UNI) About 20 supporters of Tamil Nadu Youth Congress President Mayura Jayakumar, who was stabbed yesterday due to intra-party rivalry, launched a token fast here today to condemn the attack.
The fast, led by State Youth Congress Vice-President 'Mahatma' Srinivasan, was being organised at the party headquarters 'Sathyamurthy Bhavan'.
The agitators demanded stringent action against the culprits involved in the attack.
Mr Jayakumar, a loyalist of Union Minister G K Vasan in the faction-ridden party, was stabbed by a rival group at his chamber and was admitted to the hospital.
After conducting preliminary investigations, police have registered cases against 19 Congress workers and the FIR had cited TNCC President M Krishnasamy's son Dr M K Vishnu Prasad, MLA, as the prime accused.
Vishnu Prasad's supporter and 132 Ward council member 'Saidai' Williams and his aide Mohan were arrested late last night in connection with the attack.
