Kolkata, Nov 12 (UNI) The Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) and the CPI(ML)-Liberation termed the success of today's 24-hour bandh and "historic." " The bandh is grand success. We are congratulating the people and the intellectuals of the state for the spontaneous support to the bandh and standing by the Nandigram victims, " SUCI state president Provash Ghosh told newsmen here.
He said the November ten incident in Nandigram had crossed the earlier March 14 incident.
" We are also congratulating the Left Front partners like the CPI, RSP and the Forward Bloc for protesting the November ten incident and urging them to quit the Ministerial posts and the LF government and join the Nandigram movement, " he said.
He said earlier the SUCI had called for a 24-hour bandh " but abiding by the Nandigram victims' appeals we have called for a 48-hour bandh. " " We are congratulating West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi for taking bold stand to save the lives of the Nandigram people and urging him to put Nandigram, Khejuri and other adjacent areas under the Army control, " Mr Ghosh said.
The party would join the November 14 rally, organised by the Intellectual Forum, he said.
The CPI(ML)-Liberation also congratulated the people on making the bandh a success but would not oppose or support tomorrow's bandh.
Referring to the Governor's meet with veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu, party's state secretary Kartick Pal said it was proved that the Governor had no confidence in present Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
Peace in Nandigram could be possible only after the resignation of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, he said adding the party would also take part in the November 14 rally.
