PMK stages demo in front of HPO to press demands
Puducherry, Nov 12 (UNI) The Pattali Makkal Katchi volunteers today staged a demonstration in front of the Head Post Office (HPO) here to press their demands.
The stir, led by Parliamentary party leader Prof M Ramadass, today sought proper implementation and full utilisation of the Special Component Plan funds for the welfare of Adi Dravidars and creation of a separate department for the same, among other things.
Later, a party delegation called on Chief Minister N Rangasamy and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Adi Dravidar people of Puducherry origin led by former legislator Deivanayagam took out a procession from the Venkatasubbareddiyar statue to the Legislative Assembly. Police stopped them behind the Government General hospital where they held a demonostration.
They were demanding, among other things, a separate blue colour ration card for adidravidar of Puducherry origin, filling up of group A and B posts with them and creation of Public Services Commission.
Later, a few prominent persons went to the Bharathi Park and garlanded the Ambedkar statue.
