Over 33 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 12 (UNI) Over 33.72 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far, of which 17.32 lakh tonnes has been procured by six government procuring agencies.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said HAFED had procured 7.01 lakh MTs of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 5.50 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 2.17 lakh MTs, Confed 1.95 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 58,141 MTs and Food Corporation of India 8919 MTs.

He said Kurukshetra district was on the top in arrival of paddy in all the districts of the state with 6.62 lakh MTs followed by Karnal 5.67 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 4.62 lakh MTs, Kaithal 3.90 lakh MTs, Ambala 2.91 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 2.07 lakh MTs, Sirsa 1.56 MTs and Faridabad 1.29 lakh MTs.

He said the payment was being made to the farmers within 48 to 72 hours. A sum of Rs 985 crore had been arranged for the payment of paddy to the farmers, he added.
