Oppn stalls proceedings over SC funds diversion

Hyderabad, Nov 12 (UNI) The Opposition parties today stalled the proceedings in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for some time after Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed their adjournment motion notices on the issue of appointment of nodal agency for overseeing the implementation of the Special Component Plan for the Scheduled Castes.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, the Speaker disallowed the notices by the TDP, TRS, CPI and CPI(M) on the issue.

Immediately, the opposition members were on their feet, demanding setting aside of the regular business and taking up of this ''burning issue''.

Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah intervened, assuring the agitated members that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would make a statement on the issue later. This restored order in the House.

Earlier, the Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motion notice by the BJP on attack on journalists, AIMIM on raids by police in the old city and the Janata Party on Minimum Support Price for farm produce.
