Chennai, Nov 12 (UNI) Tamil Nadu BJP president L Ganesan, who was among the 54 passengers on a Kingfisher airlines flight from Bangalore, had a miraculous escape when one of the tyres of the aircraft burst while landing here this evening.
Airport sources said the aircraft arriving from Bangalore, landed at 1950 hrs at the Kamaraj domestic airport when the back tyre burst, forcing it to come to a sudden halt with a big jerk.
The aircraft was running on the taxi track after landing, to proceed to bay 46, when the mishap occured, the sources said.
Minutes after the mishap, fire tenders and security personnel sorrounded the aircraft, even as the passengers were made to disembark through the emergency exit.
As the aircraft got struck on the runway about 1.5 km away from the terminal, the passengers were transported to the airport.
All the passengers were safe, the sources added.
