Hisar, Nov 12 (UNI) An NRI has been nabbed by Hisar police from a hotel in Jind on charges of marrying for a second time after deserting his first wife.

The US-based NRI, Nitin Kumar was with his second wife Daljit Kaur who also lives in the US, a day after their marriage, when he was arrested by the police.

The police was acting on the complaint of Divya alias Dinesh Kalra, resident of Hisar, who had got information last night that her husband Nitin Kumar was marrying another woman, in a house in local Urban Estate II here.

She reached the place but found that the couple had already left for an unknown destination.

The police, however, rounded up the mother, brother and sister of Nitin Kumar and flashed the instructions to the Airport and Immigration authorities about the crime committed by the NRI.

Divya said her husband had apparently also duped the US-based family of the new bride as she received a phone call from Daljit's father this afternoon who informed her that they did not know about the first marriage of Nitin Kumar.

Divya was married to Nitin Kumar on February 17, 2002 and the marriage was registered the same month.

Nitin Kumar left for the US with the promise to call her.

From there, he demanded money from his in-laws to purchase a house, which the girl's family could not fulfil.

Nitin Kumar stopped maintaining even the phone contact and recently came to India with Daljit Kaur to marry in his native place.

SP Shibas Kaviraj informed that police had registered a case under sections 494, 498 and 420.

The family members of the NRI have confirmed that it was his second marriage, police said.

Both Nitin and Daljit Kaur are being brought here from Jind.
