Mangalore, Nov 12 (UNI) Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde today stressed the need for eradicating corruption which has become rampant in all walks of life.
Speaking after inaugurating the Vigilance Awareness Week at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) at Panambur near here, former Supreme Court Judge said that there is an urgent need to bring awareness about corruption among the government servants as well as general public. "Without people participation corruption menace cannot be eradicated," he added.
NMPT Chairman P Tamilvanan, who presided over, explaining the measures taken by the port to combat corruption, said that NMPT was the first port to use Biometric system at the call point. CCTV had also been commissioned recently by which all ongoing activities of the port could be monitored closely.
