Srinagar, Nov 12: An Airbus A300 of Indian, previously Indian Airlines, today met with an accident at the Srinagar Airport when its tyres caught fire on landing here this morning, sources said.

They said the airbus, with only crew on board, arrived at the Srinagar Airport from Delhi this morning to airlift about 220 Jammu and Kashmir Haj pilgrims from here to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

As the aircraft was in the landing mode, its tyres suddenly caught fire, the sources said, adding the pilot, however, managed to land the airbus safely at the Srinagar Airport.

The sources said the tyres have been replaced.

However, they said the Jeddah-bound flight carrying the Haj pilgrims would be delayed by few hours due to the ''problem''.
