Ahmedabad, Nov 12: Senior Congress leader and Union Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal today said the people of Gujarat are all set to usher in a wave of political change by ousting the Narendra Modi-led BJP government in the forthcoming Assembly polls.
Launching the party's campaign here, Mr Sibal said ''On December 23 (counting day of Gujarat Polls) darkness will vanish and lights will glow as people will end the BJP rule by voting Congress to power.'' In a frontal attack on Mr Modi, the Congress leader challenged him to accept a public debate on his claim of making Gujarat the number one state of the country, on issues ranging from education to economic development during his regime.
Countering Mr Modi's statement of claiming to be ''a true well wisher of five crore Gujaratis'' Mr Sibal alleged he (Mr Modi) is the well wisher of only top five crore-patis (billionaires) of the state, who get special favours from the Modi Government.'' The Congress leader said the youth in the state was being ignored by the Modi government and alleged that the government had created an infrastructure of terror rather than creating an infrastructure of education, which is vital for the growth of Gujarat.
