Facile win for Manipur, Goa, TN, Assam, Haryana in football

Margao, Nov 12 (UNI) Manipur, Haryana, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Assam scored easy wins over their opponents in the under-19 girls football matches played on the opening day of the 53rd National School Games, hosted by Government of Goa's Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, here in South Goa today.

In goup 'A', Manipur crushed Andra Pradsh 25-0. Nasbi Chanu scored 10 goals, Y Kamla Devi and N Nandakini Devi slammed four each, Monica Chanu and Chan Chan Chanu got three each. In another match, Tamil Nadu blanked Maharastra 8-0. Kalpana and Sardha Devi scored four and three goals each for Tamil Nadu and G Soorya (1).

In group 'D', Assam outplayed Delhi 11-0, with Sabitri Urang (4), Suchitra Kujar (3), Sabina Minj and Sangita Boro (two each) scoring for Assam. In another game, host Goa trounced Bihar 5-0. Snehal Morajkar and Sabina Carvalho scored two goals each, while Precy Faria scored one for Goa.

In group 'C', Haryana outclassed Chhatisgardh 11-0. Taruna and Manpreet Kaur scored four goals each for Haryana. In another tie, Punjab edged out Uttar Pradesh 1-0. the loan goal for Punjab came from Shashi.

In group 'B' Madhya Pradesh beat IPSC 2-0. Reshma and Shiksha Rajak scored one each for MP. While in the another match, Chandigardh defeated Uttaranchal 3-1. Neha (2) and Kanchan (1) scored for Chandigardh and Priyanka reduced the margin for Uttaranchal.

In the baseball under-17 girls event, host Goa blanked Haryana by 10-0. Karishma Gaude, Sonali Malik, Neha Bhomkar, Sharal D'Melo made two homes each, while Neha Naik and Ravita Gaude one home each.
