Mangalore, Nov 12 (UNI) Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde today stressed the need for eradicating corruption rampant in all walks of life.
Speaking after inaugurating the Vigilance Awareness Week at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) at Panambur near here, the former Supreme Court Judge said '' there is an urgent need to bring awareness about corruption among the government servants and public.
Without people's participation corruption menace cannot be eradicated.'' NMPT Chairman P Tamilvanan, who presided over, explaining the measures taken by the port to combat corruption, said the NMPT was the ''first'' port to use Biometric system at the call point. CCTV had been commissioned recently to monitor ongoing activities.
