Dr Kalam to address ISC in Bhopal

Bhopal, Nov 12 (UNI) Former President and the father of India's ballistic missile programme A P J Abdul Kalam will address a three-day Indian Science Conference (ISC) getting underway here on November 23 with the objective of using native languages to convey science and technology to the common man.

Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman G Madhavan Nair would be among 2,000 Indian scientists and about 1,000 students who are expected to take part. The speeches of Dr Kalam and Mr Nair are scheduled for November 25.

''Preparations are at fever pitch. A six-day Indian Science Expo will begin on November 21 at the Lal Parade Ground,'' Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliate Vigyan Bharti Organisational Secretary (Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh) Praveen Ramdas said here today.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is likely to inaugurate the ISC at Rabindra Bhavan. Several reserach papers would be presented during the Conference being organised by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal's Rajiv Gandhi Technology University and Vigyan Bharti.

''The ISC's theme is 'Overall Scientific Management of Natural Resources for Development'. Special focus will be on global farming, forestry and traditional as well as contemporary practices in rural technology,'' Mr Ramdas added.
