Curfew in MP town; 1 dead
Indore, Nov 12 (UNI) Curfew was clamped in this district's Sanver town today after communal tension and violence that stemmed from a dispute and claimed a life besides injuring three persons.
Sanver is to witness polling on December 12 for an assembly byelection.
''This afternoon, some youths used swords to attack a youth hailing from a certain community. Two others were injured. Police lobbed tear gas canisters and lathicharged to disperse a mob. Curfew was subsequently clamped,'' said Indore Zone's Inspector-General Rajendra Kumar.
A total of three injured persons were admitted to the nearby Shri Arvind Medical College Hospital whose sources said that the youth succumbed. Another youth who sustained a gunshot wound to the head was stated to be critical.
At about 1000 hrs, a minor dispute at a tea stall assumed communal dimensions and members of two communities confronted one another. Officials succeeded in pacifying them and an additional police force was stationed in the area. Senior officials of the administration and police are camping at Sanver.
