Chaos, confusion mar first meet of UP Cong co-ordination meet

Lucknow, Nov 12 (UNI) Chaos and confusion today marred the maiden meeting of the UP Congress co-ordination committee here.

While only a select delegates and mediapersons were invited, several Congress workers staged a noisy protest outside the UP Congress headquaters building after being denied entry.

While Youth Congress activists nearly gate-crashed into the venue, several leaders, representing the various Congress cells, staged a sit in inside the venue when securitymen refused them entry inside pandals where they were to interact with AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi. Raising slogans like ''Rahul Gandhi bahar aao'', the Youth Congress activists tried to jump off the main gate.

Congress leaders claimed helplessness and blamed the SPG guidelines for the chaos.

The Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) had to be called in to pacify the agitated leaders.

Even mediapersons and party spokespersons had a tough time entering the premises.
