Hooda asks Congmen to spread govt welfare schemes to masses

Hisar, Nov 11 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today asked the Congress workers to launch a movement to disseminate information regarding developmental plans of the State Government as it would enable them to get benefits of the schemes and also give a befitting reply to the opposition leaders who were misleading the people.

The Chief Minister, who was addressing the workers of the party in Hisar today, described the workers as the backbone of any political party and said that they also served as a bridge between the Government and the masses.

Mr Hooda, while praising the efforts of the workers in helping e Congress form Government in the State, said that Congress was the only party to uphold the dignity of its workers.

Mr Hooda said that during last 32 months, the present State Government had not only fulfilled promises made in its election manifesto, but had also acted beyond it by implementing even those schemes which were not mentioned in the election manifesto.

For example, he said, that his Government had waived off arrears of electricity bills amounting to Rs 1600 crore, decided to allot residential plots of 100 square yards each to the poor, waived off house tax and chullah tax and set up new power generation plants. A number of schemes have been implemented by his government for all sections of the society, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Working President of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Kuldip Sharma lashed out at the opposition leaders in the state for waging a ''misinformation campaign'' against a ''competent government''.

President of District Congress Unit (Rural) Mr. Chhatarpal Singh, who is also MLA, presented a turban to the Chief Minister as a mark of respect.
