25 injured in lathicharge in Tamil Nadu

Perambalur, Tamil Nadu, Nov 11: At least 25 villagers were injured in a police lathicharge at Annamangalam village near here this morning.

The villagers, agitated over irregular power supply, staged a road blockade in the busy Perambalur-Athur Highway, disrupting traffic for more than two hours.

Rajkumar, the locla MLA, persuaded the protesters to withdraw.

However, when they were planning to disperse, district Superintendent of Police Prem Anand Singha arrived the spot and ordered a lathicharge.
