Four police wounded in Venezuela student protests
CARACAS, Nov 9 (Reuters) Four police officers were shot and wounded during student protests today in the Venezuelan city of Merida in an escalation of violent demonstrations against President Hugo Chavez's plan to scrap term limits.
Antonio Rivero, head of Venezuela's Civil Protection agency, told Reuters by telephone that the four officers were shot when they tried to intervene in clashes of opposing student groups.
He said authorities removed the wounded officers from the area, but not provide information on their condition.
