Islamabad, Nov 10: Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said general elections will be held as per schedule. Speaking to bankers, Stock Exchange players and members of corporate sector in two separate meetings in Karachi on Nov 9, he said,''President Pervez Musharraf has already made it clear that elections will not be delayed.'' He also said the emergency was imposed to ensure the security of the country and maintain consistency of the policies which led the country to economic stability during the last five years, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
The Prime Minister further said the present government will hold the elections on the basis of its performance of last five years. He also made it clear that delaying the elections will not be in the interest of the government itself.
